PCSPECIALIST My reservoir is bigger than your reservoir?

I had spotted the CPU blocks with additional TEC, but the problem now is to remove the heat from the CPU and the TEC, given that the TECs are not efficient. I did play around with TEC cooling many many years ago (for fun). I've still got a TEC based CPU cooler which I "won" on Ebay, which has...

PCSPECIALIST My reservoir is bigger than your reservoir?

I was simply wondering if it helps to have a greater quantity of liquid in the water cooling loop? The usual internal reservoirs are quite small, and the AIO CPU coolers don't even have a reservoir. If you have say a buckets size worth of external reservoir, would that help with temperatures? I...

PCSPECIALIST Does liquid need topping up ?

My vertical reservoir has a 1/4" port on the top, currently blanked off. I also have a funnel which terminates in 1/4" thread. To top up I unscrew the blanking cap and screw in the funnel. Carefully pour the water cooling fluid into the funnel to top up. I have had my water cooled self build...

PCSPECIALIST Long time no new PC

Useful comments about availability of 3070 vs 3080. (y) I found a Youtube channel which was displaying live GPU/CPU availability across a number of US online stores. Virtually everything was "out of stock" Yep, might have to re-think my PC purchase and just sit things out for a few months :( .

PCSPECIALIST Long time no new PC

Thanks again. BTW I visited thed NewEgg website in the USA and they were "out of stock" of all RTX30XX cards. I'm not sure what to do. I might even just wait it out for a few months and see what develops. No point in ordering a system with the RTX3080 if it isn't available for months and tying...

PCSPECIALIST Long time no new PC

Thank you for taking the time to reply! I will re-visit the CPU cooler choice and make the suggested change. I'm still confused about Ryzen stock memory speeds. Is the fastest stock memory setting 3200MHz DDR4 for both Ryzen 7 and 9? Now watching more YouTube videos to understand Ryzen memory...

PCSPECIALIST Long time no new PC

So It's been 6 years since I last upgraded my PC (FWIW -> i7-4790K / 32Gb / GTX980 / Asus Sabertooth Z87). My main use is hobbiest FPGA code development for retro emulation, using free toolsets (don't really allow use of multi core, that's a $$$ option), so fast CPU and disk are important. I...
