First off, I want to apologize for reviving an old thread and double posting at the same time. But I feel that, on the off chance someone else runs into similar issues with their Quanta Nl5 /A/C/E model, it's worth updating just so this does not end up being another loose end that does not...
With regards to the hinges, not all hinges are built the same, and plenty of manufacturers sadly cheap out on their hinges to cut costs. I would not be surprised if Clevo did the same on some of their models.
As for your options, I'd like to second the suggestion to look around for used parts...
Thank you both, it looks like there are replacement jacks available online, both a used OEM one and some third party ones.
While I'm at it I'm tempted to swap the keyboard out, but I remember PCS telling me a few years ago that the keyboard replacement required swapping the entire top plate...
I own a Proteus VI (Quanta NL5E) and since a month or so the charging port has been acting up. PCspecialist can't help because they're no longer affiliated with Quanta, so I'm SOL on that front. Next two options are either doing the swap myself, or finding a repair shop.
So far I have figured...
In my experience the Quanta Control Center has never been entirely correct when it came to monitoring clock speeds of the CPU and GPU in my Proteus VI. It wouldn't surprise me if it has similar monitoring issues with regards to the Proteus VII model.
Backing up what Steaky says, if the laptop...
While I have no experience with the Optimus, 1 1/2 hour definitely sounds low for a new battery, even with hardware like that installed.
Something that might help is turning off the keyboard lighting, which does use a fair bit of battery power.
Also, does the Optimus come with control...
Much appreciated! Sadly, my current laptop has been quickly declining so I ended up placing the order 2 days ago, and just this morning I received a mail stating it had been carried over to DPD. I don't imagine the 660p will be too much of a downgrade, thankfully. And if I do come to the...
Apologies for the delay, I've been away from home for most of the week. Saw a chance to call PCS today, and as it turns out the LED strips on the chassis can't be turned off. Bit of a shame, but I don't think it'll be a dealbreaker in the end.
How bright would you say the LED strips are, do...
That's a good point, I'll have a call with 'em later and update this reply in case other people have the same question.
That's one big charger indeed, definitely bigger than my current one, but looks like it'll just about fit in the same front pocket I store my current charger in.
Thanks for...
First of all, thanks for the review! I've been eyeing the Proteus for a little while because of the low price, and it's good to see elaborate reviews like this.
I have two questions you may be able to answer, though:
Can the lights on the body of the Proteus VI be turned off the same way you...
