I really appreciate the help! I don't know where he's going with mousepad, as we said we'd buy all the extra stuff for his birthday, so he need only focus on the PC. The problem is he seems to be discussing this build with his friends, and they recommend stuff like upgrading the motherboard...
I took onboard your earlier comment that the PC was rather poorly optimised. I mentioned it to him, but I know his "research" consisted of YouTube videos about best CPU/GPU combos, so I think he honestly just picked one of them and set his heart on it.
Also, he's flip-flopping between a 750W...
