The power jack socket in my laptop is no longer working, on inspection the socket is lose and has some cracking in the metal. Is this something the pcspecialist can replace or am I better finding someone local. The laptop is Defiance series.

I would stay away from mr local and start with a good clean of fans and fins and re-apply thermal paste to the cpu as it sounds like it could just be over heating.

I second the cooling pad, something I have noticed with mine is it catches dust hair etc that might otherwise end up in your laptop.
