I got a 144hz 27 inch monitor on someones recommendation, but am only offered 60hz in the refresh rate. Im using a hdmi cable so i can get sound via the monitor - is that the problem?
You may need to use a dual link DVI cable to get the option for 144Hz ,this is assuming your graphics card has a dual link DVI port, you can always use an audio cable from the sound card to the monitor speakers to carry sound,an audio cable is usually supplied with monitors that have speakers.
Thanks Vanthus, im not sure if it came with a dual link dvi cable but ill look in the box tonight. TBH I think I bought the wrong monitor anyway - should have gone for a 24inch or a 27 that offers a higher rez
Yes it's a good monitor, very responsive and smooth if you play first person shooters (should be especially good with the GTX780Ti as you will push higher frames than I do without sacrificing graphic power).
All I would say is I bought my girlfriend an IPS Asus monitor for £130 and I love using it compared to mine for standard tasks. The colours are much nicer, detail is sharper and it's much better for general use. She doesn't play fast paced games though so refresh rate isn't critical to her meaning that 60hz is fine.
Depends what you play to use it for really The colours will never be amazing on a TN panel such as the Benq but for responsiveness and smoothness it can't be beaten.
