Hi guys

Got my Cosmos II a couple of weeks ago and decided to write a review about it. Please feel free to ask my any questions about it.

It was a bit long to copy and paste, so I will post the conclusion and attach the file instead.

Thanks!

Conclusion

Overall I would thoroughly recommend this particular laptop. Its performance is outstanding for the price and the build quality is excellent. I would also recommend purchasing a laptop or desktop from PC Specialist. I cannot fault them on their customer service, their very competitive pricing and the ability to tailor laptops to suit your particular needs.

Thanks daveeb. I did a lot of research that I felt was worth sharing with anyone else who might be interested in purchasing the same or similar laptop.

Review really worth the read - got me thinking between getting an i5 or i7 - the i7 is going to be overkill for my partner. I'd prefer to get an i7-Quad but if it is going to throttle before getting to maxed turbo then it's useless really. Looks like I need to research some more :(

Thanks you skell, you really helped me here especially with i5/i7 test :D
By the way did you get the standard thermal past or the other one ? and do they make any difference ?
Thanks a lot

Great review, seems like you had a lot less trouble than myself with GRUB. I tried absolutely evreything but it would not recognize Windows 8.1. I am running Mint 16 and Xubuntu 14.04. Was hoping to get a couple more on there just out of curiosity really but didn't get round to adding them. I really like Xubuntu so far though, I'm not the biggest fan of Ubuntu if I'm honest it tries to be too user friendly without actually being all that user friendly. It claims to be easiest to use but I still had to use command prompt regularly especially when something isn't on the software centre. It's been a while since I used it though, 12.04 was the last version I used perhaps it has improved.

If it were just for gaming I might have gone for an i5 myself but doing a lot of development it certainly helps. I haven't noticed mine go above standard clock yet though, probably because I'm yet to do anything CPU intensive on it.

Yep, had no problems with GRUB at all. It picked up the Windows install no problem. I read a lot of guides on dual booting with EFI and there is a lot of conflicting information out there. I might write a proper guide at some point.
