What key is it to access the BIOS on the Optimus VII Pro? I have tried the usual keys like F2 and escape etc. I'm holing down the keys too but it wont allow me to bring the BIOS up.

Have you tried F7 or F12? You might have to keep tapping the key rather than holding it down.

f2 is they key to access bios, but ....

if u have windows 10, open command prompt and type shutdown/p
windows 10 does not seem to completely shutdown, it goes into a deep hibernation mode when you shutdown, but the above command will FULY shutdown windows 10 and your laptop, then when u power up, u will have enough time to press f2 to enter bios, pcs tech guy told me this as i couldnt enter bios cos i wanted to reinstall windows and switch off the uefi bios.

hope that helped.

Windows 10, and Windows 8 for that matter, use the hibernate function on shutdown to provide for a faster startup. When you shutdown Windows 10 the kernel is hibernated, not shutdown. That's why you need to use ahmsub's suggestion of the "shutdown /p" command to stop the kernel being hibernated. The other way to stop that is to disable hibernation altogether, you can do that with the "powercfg -h off" command.

For future reference, this worked for me today. Rebooted me straight into the BIOS.

shutdown /r /fw

/r Full shutdown and restart the computer.
/fw Combine with a shutdown option to cause the next boot to go to the firmware user interface.

Nice find, that shutdown option must have escaped me. Kudos. :)
