Accompanying software

Hello,

I've bought my laptop just about a year ago and its been great. Spec's are completely irrelevant for my question so I wont bother typing that out. It is a Vortex III/Clevo P150EM(I think) chassis, that should about sum up everything required. Its running Windows 7 Ultimate. The software that came with it is my source of irritation now, it's been bugging me since the start but I somehow never got around to asking which piece of software it is that causes my issue.

Alright so the problem is this; every time I click caps lock/num lock/scroll lock or use any of the function commands like turning wifi off or changing the brightness of the screen, a small blue icon indicating that I did that action appears for a second or two in the top left corner of the screen. Well it sounds alright but what it does is it prioritize itself. Lets assume I'm typing an essay, I click caps lock for whatever reason, it throws MS Word/Notepad/Whatever to the background of that tiny blue popup of the screen preventing me from typing until the little icon showing me what I did disappears of I click on the text editing software again. In the end any action that makes a little blue icon appear indicating that I'm using any command using FN key or any of the locks will throw anything into the background while the little blue icon is up. I've even experienced some of the games getting minimized due to caps lock tap.

So could anyone please point out which bit of accompanying software it is and whether I can delete it/modify it, without losing my laptops functions?

Thank you!

EDIT: Derp, my specs are in my signature. Forgot about that.

I recently got a Vortex and I've noticed the little blue icon coming up but I don't have the problem you're seeing. Just did a check there and I can keep typing in Notepad and Chrome with no issues even if I'm also pressing caps lock, num lock at the same time.

Here, made a short demo. Pay attention to the mini-stops in the continuity of typing. Also the biggest part, pay attention to the notepads top right corner, you can see it goes out of focus for a second just before the little blue icon disappears, causing the typing to be stopped.

The software that controls the Ctrl keys, WiFi etc. is called Hotkey. You can uninstall it if you like but you'll loose those features it provides (one of which is the illuminated keyboard if you have one). Try uninstalling Hotkey and see how you get on, you can always reinstall it if you find you really needed it.

Yeah, I like my illuminated keyboard. Maybe there's a software update if the new Clevo chassis aren't getting the same issue. I'll have a look.

Ah I see. It doesn't happen on mine though. There is no transfer of control when selecting caps lock Obviously that doesn't help you much but at least it shows the app doesn't have to work the way you are experiencing it. Perhaps there are other settings interfering?
