Advanced Optimus

Hi there,

Wondering if someone could help me.

I have an Ionico laptop (I'll put the spec in a different post below) and I'm having an issue with advanced optimus and certain games. It's like the advanced optimus doesn't switch to the dGPU fast enough.

For example, when running Counterstrike 2 with advanced optimus on it doesn't detect my refresh rate in the video settings and doesn't enable G-Sync.

If I switch to dGPU manually before starting the game it detects my refresh rate as 240hz and G-Sync is enabled.

Its sort of a 'first world problem' etc but I was just wondering if this was a known issue with advanced optimus or if someone had come across it before and fixed it.

It might be worth checking with PC Specialist if your laptop actually has Advanced Optimus. Not all do.

Thanks for replying, I appreciate it.

It definitely has Advanced Optimus as it switches between the Intel GPU and the Nvidia dGPU on it's own. The issue I have is with some games it doesn't do it fast enough and functions such as G-Sync don't have time to enable before the game opens.

I have this option (see attached screenshot) in the system tray and in the Nvidia Control Panel 'Manage Displays' section I have three options. Auto select, Optimus and Nvidia GPU only.
