Another Newbie saying Hi - What do I need?

Hi PCS,

I'm totally new here and haven't had much time to poke around.

I found this place following a recommendation on Pistonheads, I posted up my requirements looking for a true comparison between laptops such as the Windows User Experience.

I am in the market to replace a 4 year old Toshiba Satellite Pro which has served me faultlessly. Following weeks days of searching I had settled on the Samsung 7 Series Chronos.

I am a week in and am unhappy with it to a point where is it going to be returned (I won't go in to it here unless anyone asks) so I am in the market for a replacement.

Things I like about it are below and I'll be looking for the same to replace it:
Matt Screen, 1600x900 res, 15.6"
Backlit keypad
Numeric Pad

Gesture/Trackpad for scrolling, rotating, zooming

Looking on the site, I haven't come across the backlit keyboard option or an advanced trackpad - are these available?

I mainly use my laptop for home office and CAD duties but sometimes do presentation in darkened rooms so back lighting would be a bonus.

I'm not a big gamer - mainly due to a lack of time - but I would like the option of being able to play games or simulators so dedicated graphics are required but I don't necessarily need a top spec card.

It would be nice to have an SSD as well as a 7200rpm HDD and a DL writer - but that rules out a 15.6 sized chassis yes?

I use it on my lap all the time so I'd like to keep the weight under 2.5kg is possible.

What would be the best options for me would you recommend?

Hi there,
I am just joined here myself today but from what I have seen of the laptops you are looking at the Vortex III as that’s the only one available with backlit keyboard but don’t see any with advanced trackpad, if you want the 15.6" then you will only have 2 bays so if you want a SSD & HD then you will lose the optical drive but you can get your required build for around £1000 but not sure if it is possible for less then £1000 although the option to have no OS included and saving £79 is very nice in my opinion.

I have listed a build i have quickly put together that has most of your requirements but as always with my own build I have gone slightly over budget at £1056
