This thread it for reference, so other users can use any information that may come around the same issues have an indication of what the fault may be.
To start with, my newly built computer (~14 days) had developed a fault, specifications at end of post. That is a rather mysterious fault, which has no solid diagnosis or solution. My issue started when I installed MADCATZ drivers and software for my RAT 9 mouse and restarted; my mouse previously had been RMA’d because it failed to turn on, something makes me think my computer and mouse hate each other. It basically ran into an issue with posting into boot, which is typically because the motherboard needs to be able to communicate to the CPU in a certain degree to be able to process the boot operation. When the computer cannot post into boot it’s a sign that there is something preventing this from happening.
Although I may have developed the fault I can say the build was to quality, and I am really happy with it. The wiring management was so great and tightly wrapped, that during the diagnosis I had to cut a few cable ties to be able to remove some components power and to be able to remove the components.
The symptoms of my issue include:
No beeps.
LED screen status of CPU init.
LED screen status doesn’t display CPU stats.
Motherboards status indicator stays at 00.
Q CPU light active.
All other components power on and run including the CPU fans, but no post into boot sequence.
With all that it looks like my computer has a massive failure. To try remedy this, once contacted PCS to help with resolving the issue. (Always get permission to carry out diagnosis & repairs) Helps not to VOID the warranty. Also as soon as you open the side panel make sure you ground yourself with static wrist band and by touching the PSU; also make sure your computer is on a non-conductive surface like wood and is safe from foreign materials. Also power of the computer but keep it connected to the mains, this keeps the motherboard and its components grounded. So with that we/I run the following diagnosis tests, unfortunately none of the tests proved to find a solution or issue.
Removed all RAM and Graphics cards and reseated.
Removed all but one component of each so 1 RAM, 1 GPU ect.
Clear CMOS using this tutorial http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/253146-30-init-error-solution-maximus-striker - I did this over twice with a longer wait on the second attempt. And repeated clear CMOS 100 times. (This step was painful)
Inspected cables for any exposed wires/metal.
Checked connections so PSU and motherboard. (including re-plugging all cables)
Checked for any obvious shorting of motherboard to case.
Removed case fans from motherboard and case. (Someone’s idea on a forum that it can cause shorting of motherboard, later read to find he was talking from his ass and trolling)
What I didn’t test because of warranty:
CPU pins bent?
CPU paste.
Removing motherboard from case.
Trying a different CPU and/or motherboard.
Overall nothing came from any self-diagnosis, so I had to RMA it back to PCS for further testing and repairs. I will continue to update this thread with any information I can gather from PCS about the issue and what may have caused it with a solution if any other than to replace components. Also this seems to be more common on older revisions of the rampage series, but not in the newer MOBO’s. I have been unable to find any information on the web for the Rampage V with this issue, so hopefully if a motherboard fault it won’t happen again.
It’s not great this has happened but I’m sure PCS will treat the case with the upmost service to resolve this annoying issue.
