Best way to set up backup drive w/ PCS desktop?

Hey all,

I currently have a primary SSD for boot/system files and a 1TB HDD for storage in my PCS system, and I also have an external HDD which serves as a backup for my internal HDD. For simplicity, let's call the internal drive I: and the external drive J:.

What I would like to know is the easiest way to sync I: and J:. For a long time I just used I: for daily purposes, and eventually decided to move all my files over to J: to have a backup. However, I then continued to use I: to update certain files, and J: for other files. As a result, I: has some more recent versions of files that refer to "the same file location", and vice versa on the J: drive.

If I were to just try to copy the contents of I: over to J: again, would the system be able to distinguish between not overwriting newer file versions that share the same name/location and effectively sync the two drives with the latest versions of all files on both drives, or is there some extra legwork that I need to do? And once this sync is achieved, is there any way that I can set up a mirroring system so that when a change is made to one drive, it also writes to the other drive so as to avoid this problem in future?

Thanks!
