Better PC lock

I often find myself getting pulled away from the PC to deal with other matters only to return and find that someone else has logged on when I "win+L" my PC (or even worse they finished using it and shut down the system whilst blindly ignoring the "other users are logged on message").

I ran a quick search for some better locking software but none of it was free (all either pay for or 30 day free trial) so if anyone happens to know of any good, free locking software for PCs then I would be really happy to hear back.

Turns out that a living with a family of people who are be no means PC experts can be a blessing. Turns out I can fool them with a powerpoint show designed to look like a generic lock screen. I set it up to run as a show and have she shortcut key "ctrl+alt+l" set to trigger it. Either way a propper tool would still be useful as the moment they learn the true power of the "Esc" key, my system will fall apart

Could you set up a screensaver with a password?

The problem with that is that it does not stop the other computer users from logging on. I need a system where I can leave my PC without other users being able to log.

You can disable the fast switching feature, not sure which version of windows you have but this may help.
