Can you help diagnose this issue?

Hi folks,

First things first (I'm a realist): This is not a PCS related issue. I'm just after some help with a work PC :)

So basically every morning a couple of PCs (in the same building) are flagged as disconnected.

When I go over to the venue to have a look - the PC power light is on. When I plug the VGA screen into the back (they are kept in racks without monitors) - the screen doesn't detect anything and remains in standby mode. When I plug a USB keyboard in, the light comes on the keyboard. However, when I plug the USB mouse in - the laser underneath flashes for a millisecond, then goes off. The network port at the back of the PC is flashing green. Neither the keyboard or mouse 'wake up' the PC. It just remains as it is. The fans aren't spinning wildly and there is plenty of air circulation.

I'm completely stumped as to why this happens. A quick hold of the power button and it powers off and boots up again all ok. The next day however the PC is usually 'disconnected' again. But not everyday. Just quite often.

In BIOS the machines are set to power down and power back on again every day. I've noticed also in BIOS the machine is set to 'quick boot'. This morning I changed one of them to 'Full boot' to see if it makes a difference. I have other machines in other buildings that work fine - all configured the same.

Answers on a postcard :)
