well just looked at my spec as tomorrow am transfering my money to 1 account, so i can order my pc, but when i was looking at my spec i relised that the cavair black 750gb hdd has disappeared, does that mean its out of stock, or have pcs stop selling it?

the 1tb cavair black is to expensive for my budget and 500gb only has 32mb cache :s

Due to the Caviar Black being a VERY popular HDD, pretty much all the people of the forum suggest getting one when they make up specs for people, i can't see PCS stopping selling it, so i guess it's out of stock :)

Unfortunately the current situation in Thailand (floods) is causing havoc with the HDD market. Drives which were costing us £25 last week are now costing £75 - £100 pounds. Most drives have gone up by 100%- 200%. A vast amount of the worlds HDD production is in Thailand and it has been virtually wiped out due to the flooding.

Prices for HDD are going up rapidly, and there are also shortages of stock on a lot of lines.

Once the stock we have is gone, prices will undoubtedly go up and stay there for some time, and the issue is global and affecting everyone from dell, to the local 1 man pc shop.

Hmm I ordered one and my order is currently in pre-production does this mean I've missed out and that my order will now be delayed until new stock arrives? Should I just modify the order to a different HDD if I want to get my order on time?

We currently have enough stock of all HDDS to satisfy all our orders and more. But prices will go up when we replenish stock, and continue to rise given the severity of the issue.

damn just unlucky me, wish cheques did't take 5 working days to clear could of order it last week, guess ill order another one quickly then before they go up!
guess ill get a caviar green drive instead, the rpm may vary between 5400-7200rpm but keeps the computer within my budget, then maybe in a few months order a black one and make that my main drive and use the caviar green as a storage drive. (i can do that right?)
