Future CPU upgrade - Lafite

Hey all,

Does anyone know if I get the i3 on the Lafite now whether it would be upgradeable to the i5/i7, down the line (presuming I can still get the CPU chips?

I don't need more than the i3 now, and there's a long delay on the i5's at the moment. I often upgrade every 4 years or so anyway, but was just wondering in case I end up sticking with it longer!

Thanks.

Four years is a long time these days, laptop wise... I bought my younger daughter an i5 lafite a few months ago and I have to say it is an excellent machine, the screen is wonderful and it feels like a quality build. However it was probably way overkill. She only uses it for homework, skype and minecraft, not necessarily in that order. An i3 would have done just as well. Gamers and heavy graphics users dont buy these machines, so if you arent one of those then I really dont think it will matter. Also, and I may be wrong here, I dont think it is possible to change the CPU.

Thanks to you both, I'll double check with PCS, but I'd wondered if it would be soldered.

Yes, I think even i5 would be overkill now, its basically a work machine for office, latex (but no rush for compiles), WebEx, which my old 2nd gen i3M copes with fine.

I'll just hope that I don't suddenly take a liking to anything more draining! :)
