Future Proof For Gaming?

Hello

I have listed the spec below, i will be using the PC mainly for browsing , music and watching online content.

I do however like to play the odd game here and there, but when i play whatever game it may be, I would always like to run everything on max.

A few things that aren't listed on the spec that i have or will be getting., I would like this to be relatively future proof , perhaps 4-5 years.

Monitor - 2k Predator 165hz which i already have

GFX - 1180TI when it comes out

Also already have 2tb SSD Samsung 860 pro

I'm waiting for the new graphics cards too. I know rumours say they are pretty likely due soon, but do do you have a card at all right now?

I ask because (and everyone is guessing here, but this seems to be how it happened last time):

July or August, 1180 FE hopefully gets released
A few weeks or months later, the OEM 1180s come out
Many, many months later the 1180 ti comes out

And I think I might be being optimistic, with the 1080/1080ti, there was around a year between release dates. You might not see the 1180ti untill late 2019.

The spec above isn't futureproof, it's a waste of money as you're buying the wrong things. The "extreme" processors like that 14 core one are intended for workstation type uses like 3d rendering, or people who need to do things like encode videos, while also running a game.

For gaming, the i7 8700k actually outperforms the CPU you have chosen, as well as being hundreds and hundreds of £ cheaper.

For the RAM, there's no point to 32gb. Again, not futureproof, but a waste. Your uses and gaming don't benefit from any more than 16gb. By the time games do benefit from more than 16gb, it won't matter whether you bought 32gb because the rest of your system will be so obsolete that it will be the bottleneck anyway. We'll be on DDR5 RAM by then too.

If buying a 1TB SSD and going for futureproof, get a 1TB 970 Evo from the M.2 SSD Drive menu.

If you're not buying the system until you can get a new GPU with it, there's no real point planning it in detail as prices and availability may very will be different by the time new GPUs are out.

For instance, Intel may have released their i7 8086k, which will be a faster clocked 8700k (and therefore even better for gaming)

I just heard that it may be next year now for the release. I have a 980 ti atm

So basically Lower CPU and half the ram.
