Problem sorted now, 430 is up and running and fully up to date, thanks for the help

dont use the disc for your drivers, download the latest generic ones from www.nvidia.com

can i still download the driver for my card even if the device manager doesnt pick it up, also thanks for speedy reply

you can but try. however if your gpu is not being detected, then it is either faulty or not installed properly. try reseating it.

ok so i tried to install a driver off the nvidia site, it downloaded fine but then failed on installation. the card is only 2 months old so i wouldnt of thought it would be faulty and it worked fine in the machine before this, plus ive got my monitor plugged in the VGA port on the graphics card and im getting a display, so surely that means its working to some degree.

gave up trying to install the 430 drivers and put the 5450 back in, now the ati drivers wont install -.-
