Ran into some trouble with my PC freezing and games constantly crashing, after updating drivers and restarting the pc it kept freezing on boot up. After some online troubleshooting I went into the bios and defaulted the settings.
The PC now boots but is slow to do so and no longer recognises the hard drive (I have an SSD with boot files and some games etc. on and a hard drive for extra storage). The hard drive shows up in disk management but says ‘unknown drive’ and ‘not initialised’. When I try to initialise the drive I get a ‘data error (cyclic redundancy check)’ error.
The pc was also making squeaky and clicking sounds the past few days but doesn’t make them now that the drive isn’t working. Is the drive dead or is fixable? And would I be able to recover data?
