have you overclocked your 1080

I recently explored the contests of my graphics card disc and found an over clocking program. i installed it but did not run it because i dont know anything about over clocking and did not want to risk damaging the card.

I wrote to zotac and got a strange reply,i was told that if the card detects a demand on its resourses it has the ability to over clock itself.

The guy who answered the email actually said dont use the software.

So, my question to you all is this , forget the number crunching that says my figures are better than yours , can you actually SEE a visual difference after over clocking a card.

depends on the extent of the overclock but if it leads to around 10% or less I doubt you can notice the difference. If you are unsure about it then I would suggest not doing it, you have been told by zotac not to use the software not sure if it voids your warranty but if you got it from PCS it would.

If you're not sure what you're doing with overclocking the GPU you may want to not bother until you've read up on it, the methods, the potential issues, and the warranty implications.

I've heard it said that Nvidia have the GPUs so limited in terms of voltage and power that it's basically impossible to damage the cards through overclocking without modding the BIOS. It's possible the advice given not to OC the cards was because Zotac don't cover the warranty on overclocked cards as a policy, or because their software is no good for overclocking, rather than because you'll actually fry the chip. Nevertheless, I'd suggest you take Zotac's advice unless you have a fairly good reason for ignoring it. :)

To answer that specific question, that depends. If you're playing games and the GPU is already running 60 fps on your 60hz monitor then you probably wouldn't see a difference.

In my case, my 970 just dips below 60 fps in certain parts of certain levels of Deus Ex Mankind Divided. Having vsync on, this turns fluid gameplay into the experience of going down a cobbled street in a shopping trolley. But if I give my GPU 75MHz more on the core and 500MHz more on the memory, which I can do without touching the voltage, it manages to keep 60fps. This makes the experience of walking around Prague or the ghetto a lot smoother by eliminating those brief stutters.

But in most other games I won't bother.
