I have a Vortex 3 with the 3rd drive caddy option (replaces the CD/DVD drive). Will it take a 15mm height drive, or 9.5mm?

It would be nice to fill it up with a Seagate Constellation or WD Velociraptor, if possible.

Laptops only take laptop drives, 2.5", which im pretty sure is 9.5mm

If you want a fast drive in a laptop you could get an SSD or a seagate Momentus hybrid, both would be faster than a velociraptor

Thanks Wozza, but I'm already loading up the other 2 HD slots with SSD's. I've had a pair of Plextor M3 Pro's on order for more than a month, but I'm considering waiting for the M5 Pro or a switch to the OCZ Vertex 4, which offer great performance for a much lower price point.

Also, there are 2.5" drives designed for portables, which seem to max out at a height of 9.5mm. However, there are also some 15mm height drives which are designed for nearline / NAS type applications, though they may fit into some portable devices as well.

If I'm limited to 9.5mm, then I may just put in a 750GB Seagate MomentusXT hybrid drive.
