i7 2760QM... 1333MHz or 1600MHz RAM

Hi All

I am considering a new Laptop from PCS, but have a quick question on processor and RAM combination...

I am looking at either an i7 2670QM or an i7 2760QM, but I noticed that the i7 2760QM supports 1600MHz RAM (whereas the i7 2670QM only supports 1333MHz RAM).

My question is whether there would be any noticeable performance difference running an i7 2760 with 1600MHz RAM compared to running the same processor with 1333MHz RAM (or indeed whether there are any drawbacks to running this processor with 1333MHz RAM as opposed to 1600MHz RAM)?

Also, is my assumption that an i7 2670QM processor can only run RAM at 1333MHz correct? i.e. 1600MHz RAM would only be able to run at max 1333MHz with that processor anyhow?

I would mostly be using the laptop for general work along with photoshop for some fairly intense manipulation of some fairly large photo images.

All thoughts, or educated comments appreciated.

No there's no noticeable difference between the 1333MHz and 1600MHz RAM, there are also no drawbacks to using the 1333MHz RAM. The only reason to opt for higher speed RAM would be if you're intending to overclock which isn't a good idea with a laptop.

Aha, that's great, thanks Phoenix. I have no intention of overclocking, so will go for the 1333MHz RAM... Will save a few £££
