Is it worth waiting to buy?

So I've spent the last few days looking at different builds and I think I have a ballpark figure of what I'd be happy to buy right now if I was able to just sink the money now.

That said, after some discussion with others, I'm wondering if it's not worth waiting a while. People were saying that for future-proofing, it's worth waiting until some new Intel architecture is out, as well as waiting for DDR4 memory to become the new standard.

Any comments on this? The last thing I want to do is spend a lot of money on a new system and then need to replace components when a new generation of hardware becomes available.

You may end up waiting more and more since new things come up. I don't think newer Intel CPU would make a noticeable difference for gaming or general use.

In my humble opinion, just go for it.

If you wait, there will be something else new 'just around the corner' so to speak, so you'll be forever waiting.

The new Intel broadwell chip is due to come in spring 2015.
CPU is of course important, but not as important as GPU in regards to gaming. I am not sure it's really worth waiting for.

Also, as many others have told me as well.. there's always something new due to come up. So your best bet is to get something you need/want/works well now and have the ability to upgrade components in the future.

I don't know how many motherboards actually will support the new intel chips though.
