Right, so I'm coming to the final stages of ordering another desktop from PCS. Is this what I'm looking for when going for an extreme gaming PC with dual monitors. Also any suggestions on the case front.
Budget isn't an issue so please amend as you please.

if it is just for gaming I'd suggest a better case (full tower) if you are planning to SLI, 2 x GTX 680s which will be cheaper and perform better and an i5-3570k or i7-3770k.

I would change the CPU to the i5-3570 non "K" version if not overclocking, the "K" version just means it's unlocked for easier overclocking.
If planning on overclocking best upgrade the CPU cooler to a hydro.

So change the GPU to 2 x GTX 680s and change the processor. Is it not then possible to OC the i7?

You are able to overclock the cpu that you have chosen but for gaming it is overkill since most games are gpu dependant. You could consider the i5-3570k or i7-3770k that will allow you to overclock your cpu and it is significantly cheaper than the cpu from your original spec.

I notice in your original post that you said dual monitors, I'm not sure if that was for gaming or not but I think most games would actually be better ran on a single monitor rather than two. The next step is three monitors, so you've still got a full screen for the 'middle' part of the image (otherwise you'll end up with a bezel where your target reticule is meant to be in FPS games for instance).

I wouldn't be playing on both screens, one would be facebook etc... the other for gaming. Which brings me to another question.. any decent large ass affordable monitors out there? I know Benq are quite cheap?

For gaming and with your rig you'll want a 120hz tn panel as your gaming monitor. The monitor below is a great 24 inch monitor that actually goes up to 144hz for 2d and 120hz in 3D (if you have a 3D vision 2 kit). You can also easily enable the lightboost strobe backlight in 2D to eliminate 90% of the motion blur you'd see with an always on panel.

This is my monitor and I love it - great colour for a TN panel, not washed out like my last one. Has built in IR emitter and comes with 3D vision two glasses. Bit more expensive but an excellent monitor. You can also eliminate motion blur on this panel. If you want 3D vision surround as your secondary monitors you could get the xl2420t (no 3D vision included therefore cheaper but the same monitor)

This would be a great choice as your second monitor, great colour, great size - we have these at work and they really are fabulous.

Ps, if you're really hardcore, get a Sony FW900 - the best monitor ever made.

Confirmation

Hey guys, I just need confirmation that before I order this everything is A-Ok.

I'm open to suggestions, but if you do please tell me why it would be better. Just super hesitant spending £2.5k and finding out I should have changed something.

For one screen it's very overkill and I can't work out whether it's for gaming or productivity tasks? The i7 would imply you plan to use it for editing, etc but then 8gb ram probably wouldn't be sufficient for that. Which in that case you could get away with an i5 if it's just for gaming.

Also, with the new GTX780 being released I probably wouldn't opt for a 680 at this moment in time.

To be entirely honest with you, I reckon I could spend half that amount on a rig and still have one that performs identical while using 1 monitor. Obviously if you're opting for a triple monitor surround setup that's a completely different story.

An i5-3570+ 2 GTX 780 would probably be cheaper and perform significantly better but a single GTX 780 will max most games at high settings.

I'm purchasing 1 monitor cause I already have one at home, so I will be using two. It will be for gaming and general use. When do these 780's come out? I was planning on purchasing this on June the 5th for my birthday.

I would suggest sticking to the previous thread you opened so other don't repeat previous feedback and you get more help. The GTX 780 should already be available. I don't think you will gain much or anything with choosing the gtx 680 4gb if you are using 1 or 2 monitors.

Sorry, didn't really want to bump an old thread I understand on some forums it tends to break there rules.

The GTX 780 is also more expensive. As for the GPU I'm aiming to future proof it as much as possible for new games being released, so not as worried about using more monitors (however may be a possibility at the next pay cheque)
