Laptop blue screen, then only black screen on boot.

I was playing dayz like normal, then the laptop got a BSOD and now when I try to power it on, the hard drive spins and so does the fan but there is no display, just a black screen, i tried outputting to hdmi monitor and the same result, no signal! Any suggestions? I have the power cord connected, tried taking out the Ram and making sure everything was secure but to no avail.


EDIT: Found the problem, one of the RAM sticks is broken some how, I used them both separately and only one of them booted, ive tested this a few times and it seems constant. Quick question tho, if i were to buy more ram, would I need the exact manufacturer ram? I found some of a different manufacturer but the same model, just wondering if it would be compatible.

Almost anything will do, modern boards are fairly good at mixing and matching.

Just don't bother getting anything faster than what you have, otherwise it will be down clocked to match the slower stuff. That goes for buying slower then the older sticks too. Get some DDR3 @ 1333Mhz or whatever you have in your rig. It should work just fine. However if you ask PCS they can normally supply spares
