Nvidia gt555

Hi guys, not sure if this is the correct section for this question but here goes.
I have been reading up on the gt555 in the optimusII laptop. The spec states :

Core Speed *525-753 MHz
Shader Speed *1180-1505 MHz
Memory Speed *785-900 MHz

my readings in afterburner are:
Core Speed *590 MHz
Shader Speed *1180 MHz
Memory Speed *900 MHz

So would it be safe or unwise to adjust the settings to their max specification and would it make any difference?

I have also read the maximum memory is 1536MB but they are sold on here with 2000MB?

Not really looking at changing it i am happy with the quality and fps but my curious side wants to know.

I would leave the settings as they are - tweaking with the settings can cause instability and crashes.

The reason for the varied speeds for the Core, Shader and Memory is because there are actually three different configurations of the GTX 555M. From the sounds of things your 555M has 1.5GB of DDR3 memory. Other models have 1GB DDR5 or 2GB DDR3 (the latter is sold here I believe in PCS's GTX 555M laptops).
