No i like this, very well thought out. Doesnt matter which order the optical drives are in.

Some would moan that the Green drive is no good for a system drive as it spins down a lot in power saving mode, ignore them.

How about 1 of each :D?
Looks like a good build though; the only thing you should consider is whether or not you plan on adding another 5870 to crossfire in the future. If you do want to be able to get another change the power supply to something higher but if you're not too bothered just leave it at 650w.

Yes, im going for the black for 1st hard drive, the green for 2nd.Not bothered about adding much on in future except maybe ram.Im not an extreme gamer by any means, just wanted a good rig to last a while.I was just looking at some gaming forums earlier,it would drive me insane trying to keep up with latest games not to mention needing a money tree in the back garden.

Still, you got me thinking.1TB caviar black doesnt seem much more expensive.

But makes next to NO difference in performance and costs u more in power. The 6gbs drives only give you a TINY performance increase in a couple of rare read/write operations. 6gbs really was designed for solid state drives. The mechanical drives just dont reach a high enough rpm count to make use of the extra bandwidth.

I dont doubt the knowledge of you guys, ive learned a lot here in the last 2 or 3 weeks & ive been messing with pcs for about 15 years.thing is getting conflicting advice from other sites eg.tomshardware.(The green drives are not considered good "Primary" drives due to the fact they will drop to 5400 rpm from 7200 rpm depending on workload. It takes time for them to spin backup to 7200.)
Also from same site about partitioning OS.(Generally, 30-50 GB are more than enough for any OS,
plus a smaller Windows C: partition will also result in
"short strokes" of the read/write armature.)
Thats not enough space for programs i would install, as most advice points to using the rest of the partitions & drives for data only, but ive installed many programs on a second hard drive with no problems.
