Much awaited is the 11.6" Inferno gaming notebook, featuring an uber powerful 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 650M, Ivy Bridge CPU support, up to 8GB of RAM along with USB 3.0 and a battery that can last almost 7 hours!

You can configure yours here: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/inferno/

Once I have the money, this will be an instant purchase. A bit on the ugly side, but substance > style.

I like the look of it, so many new things though. The All in one and now the inferno notebook, wish I have the spare cash for either of those :)

Three quick questions regarding the chassis;

- Is the surface rubberized like the Vortex III or textured plastic? I have been told that it can vary dependingon the revision(?) of the chassis.
- Do PCS plan to offer a USB optical drive in the configurator?
- Is there a current ETA on the matte screens?

Thanks again

I really wish I had the need for one of these, usually I'm all for the biggest laptop possible, but I have to admit this is one of the most impressive chassis I've seen.

Just bought an Optimus III but if I can sell my netbook might get one of these to replace it too.
Even if I can only afford the i3, it will beast a 2.3 Atom anyday.

Exactly, even if I can sell my netbook for just £200 an i3 config on this machine is £482ish, awesome for the money.
Also, to PCS I think you meant "Gaming Netbook" not "Gaming Netebook" :p

As its not got a cd drive, I assume that the os is installed via either a external dvd drive, or with a usb stick, but do you still provide the windows disk?

This + a large monitor for the home seems like a nice alternative to the 17.3'' Optimus III when it's out.

Considering the name though, I wonder how the cooling on this thing is. Isn't heat dissipation a problem with something so powerful yet so small? My last laptop was a 15.6'' model from HP in 2005 which had major overheating problems so I'm always wary about this issue. It could run games of the day quite fine for a little while, but the heat dissipation was so poor that it ended up underclocking itself after running at 100% for a few minutes. I hope this isn't an issue with any laptops from here.

I have read that it runs fairly cool with turbo boost off, but runs very hot with it on (I've read 85 to 95 degrees CPU, GPU is supposedly fine) and even has the option to turbo boost disabled with the 650m enabled in some versions of the model.

hi, in pcspecialist configurator,, it is stated to come with 2GB GT 650m DDR5 Video Ram.. does it mean GDDR5, or is it actually GDDR3 ?

I think that is a mistake, as far as I know all versions of the W110ER use DDR3 memory for the video card. As a rule of thumb: 2GB 650M - DDR3 , 1GB 650M - GDDR5. GDDR5 is a lot more expensive so will usually be less in amount.

GDDR5 also runs a lot hotter, so requires a large chassis and more cooling, another reason why it is not used for this 11 incher.

The disk is stll provided and it can be installed via an external ODD. We image it on through the LAN port.

Dear PCS,

I'm very interested in picking up an Inferno as soon as possible, however I would like to grab one with a matte screen if possible. Do you have an ETA at present?

Many thanks.

1. We will not be getting stock of this model with a matte screen until at least September/October 2012.

2. There are no plans to launch this with an ATi graphics card.

hi will you be giving the option of buying with the i7-3610QM (2.30GHz) 6MB as It is not listed and would I see much difference from this chip compared to the i5 ivy bridge 2.5gh in gaming? in other words is the I7 worth buying over the I5 for gaming at 133x768
