Hiya,
I am going to buy a custom laptop this week (2nd from PCS) so could someone check this spec please.
I have gone for the unlocked version of the cpu as it is only about £30 difference and it keeps my options open.
But the thing is will there be a lot of heat generated by this CPU, I mean I know there will be but will it get dissipated enough in this chassis?

Thanks for your time in looking this over :)

Yes that's what I meant, to maybe OC in the future or is it really just a waste of £30 as the heat would be too much and end up throttling performance anyway?
It is for gaming yes, but I also do a lot of video and photo editing. I also plan to be run a VM as well.
I sort of have this opportunity just now to spend money on a nice computer to last me a long while (as it'll be my last chance for years lol)

I was looking at the Vortex IV for ages but then saw this Octane and the increase in cpu power due to the desktop CPU seemed worth the extra money :)

You won't be able to overclock the cpu, there is limited cooling available in laptops. If it is mainly for gaming and depending on your budget I would be looking at the gtx 980m.

Ah right ok then so I'll go for the non 'k' version cpu and see if I can get the 980 instead.
But other than that it seems ok?

Thank you so much for your (very quick) help!
