I orderd my pc two days ago and i just checked it and it says that the 24x dual layer disc tray and i was wondering do i really need one or could i install one myself.

You don't neccessarily need one, if you have one laying around at home you can use.

you could opt for the one 12x BLU-RAY ROM DRIVE, 16x DVD ±R/±RW
which will have the options of the two drives you have selected,
playing cd/dvds & blu-ray & also writing cd/dvd's(not blu-ray)
this could work out cheaper as well.
