Hi guys, already just orderd the laptop so probably not much point in me posting this, haha. However hey ho I want to see what people thought of my choice.

I needed at laptop to replace my badly aging 5 year old Dell Inspirion. Going to uni in a month to study engineering so needed something to do light (solidworks) 3d modeling, I'm not a massive gaming person however I do play a few racing games and a few other obscure games (kinda like sim city style) I'm not bothered about these being in ultra awesome settings aslong as they look good and play smooth. It also needed to be relatively light and portable to take to from the library/group study rooms at uni.

So what I chose was this, (I'm gonna spend an extra £10 and upgrade the wifi card to the n6300 however before it goes through fully, unless anyone thinks otherwise?)

Updated the network/wifi card to the n6300, whilst it doesn't have bluetooth it is dual band and I have checked and my uni's network is dual band. How much of a difference have you guys found when comparing 5ghz to 2.4ghz?

I've got dual band at home and run my PC's off the 5GHz and peripherals and my housemates stuff on the 2.4GHz. It depends how you have it setup I guess, if you have them both running as the same stream then perhaps you'd get some speed improvements, the way I have it setup under 2 different networks, I don't really notice any particular improvements. I think mainly it's for reliability as it's a less used frequency to the 2.4 so less interference.
