Reinstalling OS. Does it matter which disc?

After being peer pressured into getting a new SSD for my laptop started looking for my OS disc. Found it chucked into my desktop welcome box with my desktop OS disc. I'm not sure which came with which, they both look identical.
Does it matter if I put the wrong disc in or are they the same?

Thanks bud.
I'm worse for getting the upgrade cravings than you..

Definitely peer pressure...

Don't do a clean installation, get a USB caddy for the SSD and take an image of your current drive. Pretty straight forward and hassle free.

If its windows , wouldnt one disk be 32bit & one disk be 64bit ? was with my old vista os pack

only thing if you get the wrong disk is possibly installing the 32 instead of 64 & vice versa

I think both are 64bit, I am assuming he is referring to the Windows copies he got from both PCS's systems (desktop and laptop)

Oh right sorry wasnt thiinking straght , getting a little late for me - lol

No if this is the case it matters not , keys dont match up to certain discs so i cant see an issue at all.

Although some laptops can be fussy with what windows they will take , but i wouldnt think this will be the case with a cusom PCS laptop.

Got rather fed up of microsofts DRM ages ago , went out & paid for my windows 7 , promptly threw it away & downloaded a seriously good cracked one with all versions & APIs , installs on as many machines as i want , weather online or off , updates fine with none of the one disc , one pc nonsense. - been using it for years now.

Admittedly a little shady , but i have no guilt as i did pay for it in the first place , just wont be ristricted when i have paid for it in good faith.

One disc for 1 pc is just a drm way of conning people with two or 3 pcs in the same house to go out & buy 3 copies of the same thing you have already paid for.

Nooooooooooo thank you microsoft - lol

I have a copy of every installation of win7. Just for ease of installing those versions on different laptops and systems mainly. As laptops are always shipped preloaded with all the junk and you can't reinstall the OS at all. So it really helps for cleaning out new systems, or installing a new hard drive/sdd onto a laptop. Which can't be done without an installation disk. I do still need the licenses for whichever version I use though.

After actually looking at what I bought, it comes with a caddy in the box :)

And yes both of the discs are the 64 bit ones that came with laptop and desktop.
