Replacing Enigma i7 DVDRW With Blu Ray

Anyone have a recipe to do this?

Don't want to dive into the case blind and the labelling of the screws underneath isn't remotely informative.

Cheers!

Sorry, a few days old but...
You can change the drive out quite easily, firstly you'll need an appropriate replacement drive, the Sony Optiarc bc-5500 drive is the one that was supplied with my Enigma by PCS, there's probably other available drives, it is a standard laptop fitting for optical drives.

Next, disconnect power & battery then turn the laptop upside-down & remove the 3 screws holding the plastic plate covering most of the underside of the laptop in place (they run almost vertically and are spaced about 3-4 inches apart).

Once the screws are removed, assuming you have the laptop oriented with the optical drive bay to your right, slide the plate right then lift it off.

Underneath the plate are many things you don't need to concern yourself with but 1 screw you do... This screw should be obvious enough, holding the drive in it's bay, on the right hand-side. Remove it.

You should now be able to slide the drive out, it should come away with gentle persuasion.

Finally, there is a small plate on the back of the optical drive you just removed held on by 2 screws, you'll need to attach that to your new drive so remove it from the old.

From here it is simply a case of reversing the above process with the new drive.

Hope that was helpful!
