Off on a cruise :)

Glad I'm staying away from planes to be honest!

Have a great time! Where are you going?

Enjoy, I would love to go on a curse, take some photos to post.

Send me a lock of hair and I'll see what I can do for you. I'm sure there's an old doll lying around somewhere. If I can't find it I'll have to go 'old school' and settle on eye of newt. :)

Each to their own, Smoke, personally I try to steer well clear of curses.

+1

Honey I'm home!

On a 6hr train ride though.

Also some guy has fallen asleep and started snoring. People are catching each other's eyes and grinning.

It's all good because we're in 1st class though and you're allowed to snore. Possibly.

I want someone to hold his nose.

I've also opened a huge pack of Haribo to myself. People are staring but I'm not sharing.

The North though - great place.

I find the best thing to do in that situation is to try to toss a peanut into his gob. Certain types of Haribo's might work also, but as your not sharing, then it's peanuts or earplugs :)

I don't mind once we're up in the air - it's the landing that freaks me out the most.

What about turbulence? About 10 years ago I experienced a free fall and oxygen masks coming down...... Going to Vietnam in December and that is going to be around 13 hours. Might be a good idea to get Valium :surrender:

Turbulence I usually find alright - but I've never really been in anything bad sooooo we'll have to wait and see how I feel when it does happen :p

I would feel safer flying with airlines I am familiar with from the UK than I would with foreign ones.

Definitely safer with British Airways however some do not do directly flights to destinations in Asia or use other carriers so you end up flying with other airlines. I need to go to Malaysia next year and I would feel safer with Emirates or British Airways than Malaysia Airlines but they don't offer direct flights.

Malaysia Airlines are about to be fully owned by their major stakeholder and then delisted, so things might improve!

WOW, you must have a proper camera for that quality of photo

Actually, dare I say it, just an iPhone haha

Actually it would be honest of me to admit that I did slightly touch up a few features in post. The original isn't as vibrant but still pretty decent. A lot of 'good' photos are made up of composition and how you frame the shot.

Usually you go for the rule of thirds (if you haven't heard of that it's if you imagine the image to be split equally with 3 lines, vertically and horizontally). You'll notice I've sat the cruise ship on the right hand, vertical plane. Usually, as a rule of thumb, with the 'horizon' you would place it on the lower horizontal plane - but what made this image special was the colour of the water and the reflection of the mountains in it. Symmetry is also good and in this instance I broke the rule and stuck the horizon dead centre to make the most of it. This coupled with the position of the cruise liner and a bit of touch up in post, leaves for a fairly spectacular image. The stunning scenery helped a little too ;)

tl;dr - Pretty pictures using basic rules of photography.
