Solution for Optimus V Headphone/Speaker Manual Switching Problem

Hi all,

Disclaimer - I haven't tried this yet!

Given the Optimus V laptop's inability to automatically switch between speakers and headphones when headphones are connected, this seems like a good alternative to manually clicking through the sound options to change the output device:

If anyone has a chance to try it before I get home from work please let me know if this does the job. Still requires user input but much less involved and I can't imagine that pressing Ctrl-Alt-F11 will be too annoying.

Update: installed the program, right clicked on the icon in the taskbar and went to settings. Ticked the speakers and the headphones and for the hotkey pressed F7 (can't imagine needing it for anything else). Worked like a treat!

And then I shut the lid on my laptop... After that the headphones wouldn't work. Uninstalled the audio driver and sound blaster. Went to clevo website and downloaded and installed the later version audio driver and sound blaster 2. Computer restarted and it then recognised the headphones when they were plugged in. Great I thought! But the headphones still wouldn't work. Uninstalled the via software from add/remove programs. Restarted, still no luck.

Shutdown and started the laptop and wahoo! It all works as it should. Headphones recognised when plugged in and speakers turn off as they should. So I removed the sound switch software.

So what's this all mean?

Problem: there appears to be a bug whereby the headphones will stop working if the computer goes to sleep.
Fix: don't let the computer go to sleep

Drivers that come with the laptop don't auto switch the sound off but those on the clevo website do.

If anyone can replicate this I would be very interested to hear if this works for you.
