Yup it's my main MMO at the moment. I originally bought the digital deluxe pre-release of the game, played the 30 days that came with it and absolutely hated it.
I don't know why specifically but a lot of things niggled at me, from the control method to the layout of ESD to the lack of any intuitiveness or direction, I just couldn't play it and ended up running around in circles on ESD trying to find something to do, and every time I tried to make an effort I got to a point where the Admiral wouldn't give me any more missions and I was lost as to what to do.
Over the years I've logged in from time to time and not gotten much more out of it until about 3 months ago, I logged on after a long hiatus and every thing had changed; new UI, controls had been made more fluid, new skill system, new tutorial, new ESD layout and much more. Within an hour I was hooked.
I now have 3 level 50 characters starting on the reputation grind as well as multiple mule accounts. I also ended up forming my own fleet (just me and my alts for now) because I wanted to learn all about how they work (still all level 0 at the moment, it's a huge grind if you don't have a lot of people).
If anyone wants to hook up in game for a chat, or if anyone wants to drop some characters into a fleet to avoid ninja invites or even to convert fleet marks to credits then you're more than welcome to give me a shout, I'm on most evenings from 7pm till 10pm roughly on @Belidos
Myself, I had it pre-ordered and played the beta, played it solid for the first couple months of release and then stopped, I keep checking back now it's F2P, I not really sat and put time into it since all the UI/Skill changes, I have a maxed out Cruiser @lffpicard that originally started as a Escort. But since all my skills reset I have not spent the time getting back into it, maybe I should!
I have a lvl50 Vulcan tactical officer who flies the Sao Paulo class (uss defiant from ds9), and lvl50 human engineer and science officers that fly the Vesta class.
The Vesta is a great all rounder for those who don't want to spedn a lot of money buying different ships for different characters and classes.
I also have a lvl40 human engineer on another account, a lvl34 romulan tactical officer and a lvl23 Klingon tactical officer on my main account, but I play mainly fed.
Yes it's just had season 9.5 patched and season 10 will be a new expansion sometime in the autumn, they're finally taking us into the delta quadrant, with an additional 10 levels, another tier of ships, another skill advancement system, new exploration system and more.
So far it's mostly rumors and hints but solid facts we have are:
Coming October
Level 50 to 60 and new story based missions content confirmed.
Mark MK XII and MK XIV gear confirmed.
New methods of captain advancement via specialization trees.
Many new races to encounter.
Tier 6 ships introducing new class of starships and new class of boffs.
Voyager interior (I'm told the option with or without Neelix's kitchen).
Better intrepid model.
New exploration system.
Homeworld of a rarely seen species.
Many new ships for all factions.
New ships having new powers.
Tim Russ will return as Tuvok. Several more Voyager cast will be joining to do voice over work for the game.
Garret Wang the next confirmed actor reprising his role as Harry Kim who will be the captain of the Rhode Island.
Talaxians and Ocampans will be allies, unsure if they will be playable right now.
Oh and they're doing more work on http://gateway.startrekonline.com/ one of the things they are working on implementing (but not scheduled for work during the current work load) is adding the DOff system to the gateway so you can set up your Duty Officer missions without loading the game.
I love the scifi genre but I just can't get into this game. It's difficult to navigate the space station and understand where you need to go and stuff. Got lost really lol.
I have played many mmos. Wow. Teso. War hammer. Swtor. Etc etc. and this is by far the hardest to get around IMO.
Want to play it but get frustrated to quick while playing it.
