Suggestion on case selection

Just a quick suggestion, but I've created the machine I'll be buying once I've saved the money in the PCS system builder and I found one aspect of the boulder to be almost infuriating. It was honestly the least pleasant part of creating my system and I feel I that it could be improved. To give you an idea of how infuriating, there were several times where I closed down the website and vowed not to bother with PCS because it was driving me so up the wall. Now, eventually logic gave in and I realised the financial savings I make by going with PCS, but there are probably many who would just become frustrated and not bother.

So cases. When selecting a case there is almost no information about what will actually fit in it in terms of cooling. I am creating a powerful machine with an Overclocked CPU, and I want to get the H100i. Now this is a big beast radiator and almost none of the cases on offer actually fit it. But instead of telling me in the case description what will fit in the case, I have to attempt to 'proceed' with the build just to see if an error pops up. It's just a fiddly way of doing it, as it wasn't until I got to the £120 cases that I found one that fit. This took an annoying effort (probably only ten minutes but the repetitiveness of it and the seeming impossibility of finding a suitable case made it feel like hours) and really did put me off.

So my suggestion is to add something to the description explaining whether the large cooling systems will actually fit inside the case, rather than having to go through a trial and error method of discovery. It would just make life a lot easier.

I must admit, I didn't find it that annoying at all. I would imagine most customers pick a case they like the look of rather than trying to consider what components will fit in it (I know, it would be easier if everyone had an understanding of what components were what but most folk just don't). If it doesn't work, they will pick another case the like the look of and so on. I'd wager, its quicker and easier for most users to pick a case and click 'next' and then pick a different case than it is to open the description of the case and read each one to find one that it fits.

Also, all of the descriptions would need updating every time PCS offered a new cooler etc.

Just my 2 pence worth :)

r.

The H100i will apparently fit in the £85 FRACTAL DESIGN ARC MIDI R2. And that did not take long to find out, about 30 seconds in fact.
I wouldn't select any component without looking at multiple reviews of it online, so the configurator did not represent a time issue for me, which doesn't help you to know, but I think you're talking to people who don't have a downer on it.

That's okay, and I'm glad that you find it a simple task, but you would need to select 18 case configurations before coming up with the Fractal case fitting correctly, and I think it is unnecessary. I'm sure this would take most people more than 30 seconds. This is just some feedback and a suggestion to add some more information to the case description - I think it's valid but if nobody else agrees, that'd be why it isn't on there already :)

I agree is not ideal but infuriating is a bit excessive :)
