Upgrade Question.- GTX960/970

Hi All,

hoping you can give me some advice.

I have the below system and am wanting to upgrade my graphics card.

Two options:

GTX960 - no issues

Or

GTX970 - the configuration says the max power usage will be 455w including a 20% allowance.

- I can't really stretch to both a 970 and a better power supply. Course could afford 960 and power supply but seems pointless!

So my question is whether or not it would be realistic to use a 970 or a bad idea with that power supply? Or is here a half way house/better option between the two?

Not really comfortable with SLI/cross firing as not the most advanced user.

If it helps I have the following plugged in as well drawing power - usb mouse and keyboard, 1tb external hard drive, headset.

Thanks!

Chris

Even running a GTX 960 on a 450W could be a bit risky. I think you'll have to upgrade your power supply to upgrade at all.
