I ordered this on monday but just thought I would post up the spec and see if anyone can see anything I've missed, money was pretty tight at £1500 so I don't think I've done to bad.

Few things, first I've not specced a second hard drive as it would have pushed it way over, second I've amended the order to include the silver warranty.

Nice build,If a second hard drive is going to push you over budget I would forget about the SSD and get something like the 750GB scorpio black as 120GB isn't going to allow for installing much at all, unless you intend adding a second hard drive later.

Yes, second drive will be installed in 4weeks. And I'm hoping to try the 30days windows trial, so that buys me a bit more time till payday comes round again.

Cool,:)
But be aware buying a retail version of windows will be more expensive.

Yeah I know, but what can I do. I had the money to order now, so my thinking was. Order now, use the 30 day trail and I can be playing on the laptop in 2weeks instead of 6 weeks.

I should also add, if I bought another 8gb of ram in a months time say, does anyone actually think I would notice any performance increase? Bearing in mind this is a gaming pc.

Are there problems with the AMD® Radeon graphics card on the elite or is it more or less just as good and reliable as the GTX680?

just ordered the elite yesterday. As I read on this forum and from other places on the Internet, a crossfire configuration won't have any of the old 7970m problems because those were related to Enduro and Enduro is not possible in a Crossfire configuration so we should be ok. Anyway, that's what I understood. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sounds promising. There's a few videos on you tube of people with alienware m18's with Xfire 7970 playing BF3, and I must say, it does look bloody FANTASIC.

Yes. Unlike the single 7970m which plays BF3 bloody horrible from what I've read because Enduro kicks in at some points and ruins the party by creating massive fluctuations in terms of FPS. But as Enduro (or Nvidia's Optimus for that matter) are not possible in a Crossfire/Sli configuration then this problem should not exist anymore.

Well by default you have 30 days to activate Windows, giving you 30 days legal use of it without activating. However you can legally extend this trial time with a simple command. It's explained here
Erm,not sure that is legal.

It's a command built in, by Microsoft, that any user can access. I mean, if it allowed you to extend it indefinitely then I imagine it would be against their EULA, but you can only run the command three times before it stops working. It's obviously intentional.

I suspect it contravene's Microsoft's terms and conditions at the very least unfortunately (even if it turns out to be 'not illegal') :p

EDIT: Actually after doing a little reading (last few mins lol) I'm not so sure, from what I've read its there so sys admins can reset/restore activation periods for new pc's. Certainly appears not to be illegal though.
