Vortex IV Battery Speed Issue

Hi all!

Good to be here - really pleased with my new laptop.

I'm sure I'll be pointed in the right direction but I have given up searching through menus!

Scenario:
When the laptop is plugged in and playing Darksiders II I'm getting 60fps~ when is just on battery with all the same settings I get 30fps~

I found the nVidia control panel option for power management and set it to always favour performance but it hasn't made a a difference.

It's the same whether I use the Windows 'High Performance' or 'Balanced'.

Is there something that I can't find that I need to tick?

Thanks in advance!

Jack.

Edit:

Vortex IV 17.3, Intel 4700, 8gb ram, nVidia 780m, Windows 8.

Open the Power Options menu (right-click on the battery icon in the task bar). Make sure you're on High Performance, and then click 'Change Advanced Power Settings'. Make sure that both of these values are at 100%:

Checked those settings and they're all 100%.

Changed minimum processor on battery to 100% too and that also failed to affect anything, along with changing the nVidia power management to driver controlled.

Weird.. as soon as I plug it in while it's in game it's back up to 60fps.

Also check the Intel(R) Graphics Settings, the default for On Battery is Balanced whilst Plugged In it's Maximum Performance. I believe that the Intel GPU is still involved in graphics processing even when using the NVIDIA GPU?

PCI Express is another one it might be worth checking, I have Link State Power Management set to Off.

Checked all of those and no luck.

Also tried changing the 3D settings in the Intel control panel to performance with no change.

I tried checking the bios for hardware power options using F2 on start up and found nothing useful either.

Can't think of anywhere else to look!

Noticed that the power option on the far left is unavailable on battery and enabled on mains.. and it's called performance?

Edit.

Also noticed that the processor is locked to 1.5ghz on high performance on battery while video encoding.. as soon as it's plugged in straight up to 3.2ghz. Everything on the HP profile for battery is on max.

Could it be a hardware limitation? I suppose the battery might not be able to kickout enough power for everything on max?

Make sure you have the latest Hotkey software, download it from the Clevo website. Uninstall your existing Hotkey software, reboot and then install the new Hotkey software and see whether that helps?

I had a look there and unless I'm being pretty special - I can't find the P170SM model there? Version seems to be 8.0111.

Edit:

I am special, didn't see the scroll bar.. there is a new version. Downloading now, thanks!

EditEdit:

Installed the new version and 'Performance' is still greyed out for battery only operation. As soon as power is applied it turns to 'Performance' and CPU-z reports the clock speed going up from 1.5ghz to 3.2ghz.
