I started a new job at the start of this year. I work in animation and have been supplied the top spec available macbook pro to work with on the go. Mac wouldn't be my choice, but I've got used to performance standard now. When I came back to gaming on my PC I realised just how outdated it was. I'm upgrading from a fairly old AMD Phenom processor and an Nvidia 2GB 680 card. I really haven't been keeping up to date with hardware releases in the last few years, but from the brief look I've had it what I can get for my budget on the site, whatever I order is going to be a huge performance boost. I mainly play Guild Wars 2, which is very unfriendly when it comes to AMD processors. I'll also be using it to freelance animation and edit work.
I'm not looking to spend more than £1,300 including vat and don't need to consider monitors or peripherals within that as I have those already. From a quick play on the builder I came up with:
i7 Six Core 3.4ghz
ASUS x99-A ATX Motherboard
16GB HyperX Fury DDR4 2133MHz (4x4GB)
4GB Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 970
Along with an 120GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive.
I really don't know about exactly what is going to get me the best value these days though, so some opinions on this or build suggestions would be really appreciated!
