Farcry 3 problems.

I received my pre ordered copy of farcry 3 today from simply games and think I've made a monumental error buying it.After installing it automatically downloaded updates and patches then this UPLAY appeared, what the hecks that all about?Anyway it installed and I registered but I couldn't launch the game and it didn't appear in my games on uplay.I've now uninstalled the lot,can anyone advise me how to get this game working just as a single player game without the need for all this uplay or online nonsense?I know I'm probably being thick, but any help much appreciated.
All I want to do is play single player like the previous versions.,I'm not interested playing on line or multiplay.

Afaik, Uplay is required on all Ubi games now. Its just another Steam/Origin, that you can run in offline mode after, but may need to be connected at first.

What date is FC actually released? Because i know some had issues with AC3 trying to play on preordered copies the day before it was actually out.

If I need to use uplay I take it I can't register it on steam?
I think the official release date is tomorrow so I'll give it another bash then, thanks plus rep.:)

Aye you will have to play through uplay. You can add it to steam as a link to get the overlay though (probably)!

Whats odd is that I have AC/AC2 etc and have played via some form of Uplay before...whatever teh launcher was then. But now only AC3 shows up. Must have to actually load up the others to get them to appear. Oddness...its like Origin all over again :D

I downloaded from Gamesplanet.Go to Bin folder and should be there.
I tried launching it from bin folder but it just opened uplay then there was no where to go,the game didn't show.
I'll try reinstalling again later, thanks for the help, plus rep. :)

I had to use Uplay with the AC's,

When you open Uplay, does it have a "game" tab? with all your Uplay games on there?

It had a tab, something like "your games" but there were no games in it.
I'll need to reinstall it all again as I uninstalled it thinking there was an error.

I had the same issue with AC III, looking in "your games" didn't show anything after installation. I restarted my computer and then try again and it was there.

Yeah,I was a bit hasty,I didn't expect anything like this uplay, had never heard of it,so I uninstalled it thinking I didn't need it then I got an error when launching the game so I uninstalled that, lol, told you I was being thick.
Thanks for all the help guys,I'll reinstall it all,now I know what to expect. :)

I've hit a snag with this game aswell,

Bought it through Gamesplanet using their fast downloader, but when all files are in, pressing the install button brings up a Norton Sonar error saying that a Trojan has been detected and automatically removed.....

Temporarily disabling Anti Virus and trying again just brings up an "application cannot be launched error screen"

Email going off to Gamesplant this morning to see what can be done..

<edit> it would seem that all I have in my Far Cry folder are the .bin files. No .exe to be seen.

Time to download again it would seem /sigh

Finally got it working!

Firstly I had to go into Norton quarantine area and restore the .exe file that it removes from the download directory.

I then was able to run the setup application however I hit another problem here.

I always choose custom installation as I don't install my games on my C:\ preferring to put them on my secondary, larger Drive. When I first did this however when the wizard had completed, I could not find any sign of the game except a disconnected shortcut in my Start Menu. Uplay had been installed already as I have Ghost Recon which also uses the bloody thing.... and no sign could be seen in there either (even after bouncing)

I then removed the game by running the .exe file again and choosing the uninstall option (as this seemed to be the only thing on my computer that actually knew where the game files were!)

Once the wizard had successfully got rid, I then used the .exe setup wizard again and just agreed to all the default locations (my system drive) and lo and behold, all is well. The update has been successfully applied and Uplay registers the game and launches it fine.

Hope this might be of help to somebody and I'm now off to get a virtual suntan :gun_bandana:
