I will pay £900 and he'll pay £700= £1600
We are buying this as our l£750 laptop is too old for games (2010) and is slowly breaking down
THIS IS USED FOR INTENSIVE GAMING AS WELL AS EDUCATION LIKE BF4 AND COD GHOSTS
the budget is £1400 as this needs a seperate monitor, but its 1500 as i expect the price to drop by then

I would change most of the spec. The motherboard is overkill, for £1500 you are not getting a high end gpu. Do you require windows 8 professional?

THERE IS NO REASON TO THINK THE PRICE WILL DROP. IT WON'T.

YOUR BUILD IS PRETTY POOR, CPU AND MOTHERBOARD ARE COMPLETE OVERKILL. YOU SHOULD SPEND MORE ON THE GRAPHICS CARD IF IT IS FOR GAMING. THE PSU IS TOO BIG AS WELL.

I WOULD GET A PC LIKE THIS. THE GRAPHICS CARD IS SUPERB, IT WILL MAX EVERY GAME EVER, AND YOU GET A 2TB HARD DRIVE AND BLU RAY PLAYER. SSD IS NOT NEEDED.

The difference in performance between 1600MHz RAM and 2400MHz RAM is a couple of percent. "Futureproofing" does not come into this, it is purely a waste of money. If your reasoning will buy you 2400MHz RAM, it should also buy you a £5000 PC. But you have a budget, so you should put the money into areas which will actually give you a performance increase, rather than tunnelvisioning onto one component and thinking that making it incredible will be a smart idea.

Is it just for gaming? 2400mhz doesn't give you any noticeable difference compare to 1600mhz, you are also spending a lot on the motherboard which won't provide any benefits compare to a cheaper one in gaming and only choosing an HD 7950. The spec below is going to perform significantly better than the one you posted and it is cheaper:

The motherboard there is complete overkill. It will not help you at all. You are spending extra money on literally no benefit.

You said in the original post that you were assuming the price would drop to £1400. This will not happen, hence I did not go over that limit.

I am pretty sure it no way near as fast as an SSD. Velociraptors seems overpriced for what they offer and I don't think you will notice the difference between a caviar black and a velociraptor.

Well you heard wrong, that simply doesn't make any sense - in terms of the card's architecture, the 780 Ti is equal to, or better than, the 780 in every single way. Not that there is any difference between the top-end graphics cards when it comes to non-gaming tasks anyway - the processor is what matters there, not the graphics card.
