Right this second, check your neck, armpits and groin for any swollen glands.

If there are any, and they're not painful in any way (although possibly very slightly tender) - get yourself to the GP for a check up.

On Wednesday I was diagnosed with Hodgkins disease, luckily at an early stage, and I'm due to start chemo in the next 2-3 weeks.

I'm 25 - and this thing is the most common in young people (and over 55s). Most people with Hodgkins can be cured (phew).

I didn't have any other symptoms other than slight fatigue and swollen glands. Otherwise completely healthy - like ran a half marathon in under 2hrs healthy. Because of the quiet symptoms most people aren't diagnosed until the late stages - luckily for me we've caught it early. Other symptoms are night sweats and itchiness!

So yeah - go get yourself checked if you have any odd glands! I'm not looking forward to lying bored in a hospital bed with lack of PC and GTAV around the corner  should have invested in a laptop :( but it's totally worth it if it means a clean bill of health at the end!

That is all :)

Thanks, I'll let you all know how it's going. If there's one thing I'm good at it's being positive :)

Good luck to you mate, I've been through it an know a lot of people who have gone through it, if you catch it early enough it's not so bad but if it's a good distance along it can be a nasty experience, one of the people I know left it so late that every time they thought they'd eradicated it a couple of weeks later it came back for years, other people I know who caught it early enough had short stints of chemo or radio and It was never seen again.

Wow! That was diagnosed quickly, the only way they can confirm it is actually Hodgkins is by surgically removing a section of the affected lymph node and performing a biopsy (mine hurt like %£$" for days after the anaesthetic wore off). Two days to arrange for the surgery and get the reports back from the labs is pretty damned quick.

Nice (and also sorry) to hear someone also has an experience! I had a core biopsy where they guided the needle using the ultrasound and took a sample. They numbed the area but I felt the first one so they gave me another dose - didn't feel a thing. Unfortunately seem to have suffered nerve damage in the process as now my shoulder feels like it is sunburnt and when I touch the bit that should hurt I feel it in a different place! Ah well. Not really concerned by that to be honest.

Yeah I was fast tracked through. That was the first sign when I asked the doctor what '2WW' meant on my letter. It means "2 Week Wait" and it's basically their way of saying it's a priority... I'm lucky but I still have a long way to go!

I hadn't noticed this thread (I was away end of last week), so that Vita thread caught me by surprise. But I will echo here what I said there and say good luck mate, stay positive and most of all thanks for sharing. You never know, might just have helped someone else :)
