Hi everyone,

I have been an avid xbox user for the past 10 years,

This must come to an end,

I have just ordered my very first 'gaming' pc, although, i must say, i'm on a budget so go easy on me lol,

SPEC AS FOLLOWS:
AMD FX-6350 Six Core CPU, ASUS® M5A97, 8GB HyperX BEAST RAM,
GeForce GTX 970, 240GB KINGSTON V300 2.5" SSD,
Corsair H55 Hydro Series HP CPU Cooler

If i had a little bit more money i would have upgraded it slightly but i just cant!
Also, how long do custom desktops usually take to arrive?

Thanks people!

What's your max budget? Well done from stepping away from the awful console world!

Max Budget unfortunately is what ive spent, £542 (literally just starting out sorry its not £2000's worth lol)

Do you have any suggestions on the spec?

I will be adding/upgrading bits in the near future, i wanted to add the arctic extreme cooling paste but couldn't afford the extra £9 LOL!

And then just to barbie it up a bit i wanted some sort of LED lighting but again, couldn't afford the extra money for a better casing and for the lighting haha.

There's no way that spec came to 542 surely? That's at least an 800£ build.

Ahh yes sorry!

The GeForce GTX 970 is being given to me by my dad, as this gives him an excuse to upgrade to a GTX 1080

:)

Welcome to the master race!
Consoles are so behind the times they have had to come up with new consoles already as the Xbone and PS4 were dated by the time they got released!

Exactly why i decided to join the master race! although i'm quite a way off getting a 'beast' of a machine - but i only want it for a few games to start and to do an online IT course - along with general internet use/ watching youtube ect.

Can you post up the whole spec? Should be possible to copy-paste it in full :) That will help give better feedback.

Obviously adding in your GTX 970. :)

The case has more fans for better cooling, and the CPU is overwhelmingly more powerful http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1281?vs=1646.
It has only a basic HDD rather than an SSD to make room for that, but the disk speed won't affect FPS at all and you can add an SSD in yourself in future much more easily and cost effectively than you can upgrade the CPU.
A PC with an i5 6600 would perform better in games and last you longer before it was a real bottleneck.
Windows 10 also has Direct X 12 which is important for some (and increasing numbers of) more modern games

I really appreciate the advice but unfortuantly ive already ordered it, its in pre production.
I am right in thinking i can change the CPu in the coming future though cant i?
I can literally change/upgrade all components?

Ah, that makes more sense! Actually, that's a pretty respectable budget in that case, I would recommend looking at oussebon's alternative, an i5 will offer much better performance.

Do you guys think i should speak to customer service about changing from AMD to intel?

Its a whole change to be fair isnt it, i would have to cancel my previous order,

Which i kind of don't want to do as it should be turning up next week and i got my hopes up for it lol

It is up to you, I would cancel and re order but if you are in a rush and happy with your choice then go for it

It's probably still possible to cancel and start over. Worth checking at any rate.

While a few days extra delay is unfortunate, it's not so much in the grand scheme of a PC that you'll be using for hopefully many years :)

Hi SlimCini,

Its not that i'm basing my decision on the waiting time,

Its more that Oussebon's build is built in graphics, its got a micro atx case which isn't preferable at all (although its easily changed), its got slower memory than my build and its also got a standard HDD. Oh, and a copper pipe cpu cooler which again, isnt preferable at all.

Ill just stick with my build for a short period and if any components need upgrading i will get separate and install myself (or ask the old man) :)

As i said, i genuinely appreciate the build advice, i really do :) but upon further investigation, i feel that for what i need it for, I think my build is going to do the job, and do it well :)
