Screen Brightness

Hi everyone, I have a 1 year old Recoil III RTX laptop and I don't know what happened today, when I was playing Dying Light I pressed tab to search on google something and then suddenly my screen brightness became totally darker. I tried to show on the video but it seems it is not perfectly explaining what is the problem. Today I only switched my prefered graphics card(Intel graphics to RTX) on Nvidia Control Panel as I didn't know my laptop was using only Intel graphics card for most of the applications. When I searched on the internet it was saying about drivers but drivers were up to date. When I'm trying to get higher brightness at the middle when it becomes brighter immediately turning dark and shattering when it is bright.

I would contact PCS tomorrow, best to phone, don’t email.

is there a buzzing sound when this happens? Next time it happens hold your ear close to the base of the screen and see if you can make out some buzzing or a hum.

Some weird and annoying sound coming out from the laptop when screen brightness is shattering.

Yeah, I have a feeling that it may be the backlight board electrically arching with another component. There have been a couple of people with the same issue and I think the screen will need replacing unless they can just replace the backlight circuit.

Is it possible to send to the PCS for replacement?

Yeah, if you contact them they'll arrange an RMA which is where they take it back and carry out the work, then they'll return it to you once it's done.

Do you know which warranty you ordered?

On the order created date it says 06/03/2019
I'd contact them first thing in the morning, just explain the situation, I'd hope they'd honour the 1 year parts and shipping as you're only just outside of it and this is completely outside of your control, but that is up to them.

Fingers crossed, let us know what they say?

Hello,

May I ask how it turned out for you ?

The same thing just happened to me. I was playing and the brightness suddenly dropped down to minimum. Now it's acting weirdly, flickering and making that buzz sound in the display panel. I can't really adjust it anymore nor reach high enough brightness to do anything with it.

I have a Recoil as well, 7 months old though. I'm gonna call PC Specialist tomorrow morning, but i thought maybe you could share some informations on how it was handled.

Thank's in advance.

Edit : Just sharing the spec's if usefull

It's a hardware issue with the screen unfortunately and needs a replacement screen.

Yup, that's what i thought. Quite unfortunate during these lockdown times. Better find an external monitor to hold on a bit.
