In terms of performance, there’s not really anywhere else to go other than going for the ROG Strix 3070. You’ve got a fantastic CPU, the correct combination of motherboard and cooler to match with it, the fastest boot drive available. Put it this way, if I was building a PC for myself, the above is what I’d choose. You could potentially change the 1TB PCS M.2 drive to a 2TB Firecuda for more storage and speed but it’s an extra 250 odd quid which seems a bit extravagant 😆If there was anywhere in this build you would spend a little more money to bleed a little more performance, what would you change? The 3k budget has some flex in it you see, and you've done a very good job of hitting the 3k number exactly!
The ultrawide monitor looks cool, but I've never really used one. Is there something of an adjustment period to get used to it? Always had one or two normal sized monitors so this would be a new experience for me!
£500 on a monitor made my blood pressure spike. I never imagined they'd be so expensive, but reading the material that @Martinr36 sent, I'm beginning to understand how important it is.
Having recently joined the ultrawide club myself I can vouch for their awesomeness. Doesn’t take long at all to get used to the wider FOV and the added sense of immersion in-game is phenomenal.
As for the lead time on things, unfortunately demand is well outstripping supply at the moment. There’s global shortages on components and that’s not likely to be resolved until the back end of spring. Combine that with a pandemic and it’s double trouble. A conservative estimate on lead time for a high end build would be around two months. Excruciating, I know, but simply can’t be helped at this point in time.
