It doesn't mention SMART,which I would have expected with this kind of error,
Details show that it is the C volume unfortunately.Could it possibly be some kind of malware?
I might have a browse on the microsoft website to see if it sheds any light,unless you or someone else have any ideas.

Im afraid thats a fairly conlcusive test and the drive has developed a fault, it might last years it might last days. Best to get it replaced once you have a backup / image.

An advanced replacement can be arranged by calling 0844 499 4000

The test you ran is the requirement for warranty replacement, so if it shows fail, thats as good as it packing in.

If the drive is failing, I would'nt backup anything on it unless it's really important as the drive is failing and the data on it may be corrupt.

True but a backup of data with a small % of corruption is better than no data at all, at this point its more of an advanced warning of drive failiure as if any system files were corrupt it would be immediately obvious.

Already made backup & image earlier & don't envisage any problems with it.
After all,that is what the warning is telling you to do,but fair point Dave.

About now i was expecting to post that everything was sorted,but alas,no such luck for me.
First thing this morning i went to take out the faulty hard drive in anticipation of yodel delivering the replacement,easy peasy,nope.On pulling the drive out,i noticed the power connection had come off as the cable was short i realised after taking the other side panel off the same cable was going from the drive to my second hard drive & the connection on the second hard drive had snapped off,broken, kaput.To cap it all,after waiting & watching all day for the delivery guy he didn't appear.At about 5pm i checked the tracking link,guess what (No One To Receive/ Card Left 03/06/11/ 16:23) No card was left at my house.I was in the front garden all afternoon with my mate cutting down conifers & no delivery van was seen.Anyway,my wife heard me screaming & came rushing through to see what was wrong,i duly explained,she told me to go out to the garden,have a can of lager & calm down & she would deal with it.Upshot is they told her it wouldn't be delivered till tuesday Boy am i angry.

Ah.....the ol' card was left; no one was home trick. Do these delivery companies get any worse?! Or actually....can they get any better excuses?! Nightmare mate.....hope you get it sorted quickly; at least you managed to make a backup before anything got corrupted (crosses fingers). I have to say I need to get another decent external hd to do some backups. Have not bothered yet, but its always wise. Hope that can of lager didnt turn into 6 cans of stella.....that be delivery man fightin' beer. ;)

Thing is NilSatis,they didn't leave a card,not at my house anyway & now i'm not going to get it till tuesday.
I'm typing this with a sore head,so,afraid that can did multiply a bit,lol.

Just thought i would update for anyone interested.
Don't know what my wife said to yodel yesterday,but they delivered today about 1.30pm.
Everything back as it was,the system image installed sweet as a nut.
