Haven't built a PC in around 20 years, so any insight / improvements without upping the price would be great :)

My young fella (aged 10) will have access to it for age suitable games (give or take) and I may use it for occasional gaming but probably nothing major.

We do have a vr headset, the quest 2 which might be able to be connected to the PC.

Monitor:
After a quick look in the builder, perhaps something like this:
IIYAMA G-MASTER GB2770QSU-B5 27" £261

1. I do have a 4k 55" TV (Sony KD-55XH9505 https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/...s-lcd-tvs-android-/kd-55xh9505/specifications), can the video card be utilised to output to this to be used for gaming, or is that not how it works?

2. I am thinking of going multiple screen (I have a couple of 1080p screens, but they are nothing special), mainly for work use so others, unless that would be a bad idea?

3. Reading through other posts / guides, is it a better idea to use two M.2 SSD Drives, maybe 1TB each instead of one at 2TB and then a 2TB HDD for file storage?

I think you're on the wrong platform for the best gaming experience (and with any sort of platform longevity in mind), and you've over-specced/overspent in some areas and under-specced in others.

I'd be looking at something more like this, which keeps to the same budget, but gets you a better gaming CPU, better GPU, more games storage, better cooling, and better PSU.

Case
CORSAIR iCUE 5000X RGB MID TOWER GAMING CASE - good case, no need to change this
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Eight Core CPU (4.2GHz-5.0GHz/104MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5) - the best gaming CPU currently available
Motherboard
ASUS® TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI (AM5, DDR5, PCIe 4.0, Wi-Fi 6) - solid motherboard, no real need for the X670 items unless you need more USB slots or m.2 slots, or the grey/white aesthetic of the Strix
Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 6000MHz (2 x 16GB) - don't see the need for 64GB, unless you know you have a specific need for it?
Graphics Card
12GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4070 SUPER - HDMI, DP, LHR - much better matched to the 1440p display you've chosen below (c.30-50% more FPS than the 4060Ti at 1440p, depending on the game, and much more oomph for VR), and for the 60hz mode on the 4K TV
Graphics Card Support Bracket
NONE (BRACKET INCLUDED AS STANDARD ON 4070 Ti / RX 7700 XT AND ABOVE) - no change
1st M.2 SSD Drive
512GB SOLIDIGM P44 PRO GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 7000MB/sR, 4700MB/sW) - smaller, fast SSD for Windows, apps, game launchers ONLY
1st M.2 SSD Drive
2TB SOLIDIGM P41+ GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 4125MB/sR, 3325MB/sW) - secondary SSD for game installs
1st Storage Drive
2TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 7200RPM, 256MB CACHE - slower HDD for for your documents, media, etc.
Power Supply
CORSAIR 1200W RMx SHIFT SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS GOLD, ULTRA QUIET - newer, higher overhead PSu with plenty of room for upgrades (650W would have been too tight even on the original GPU choice)
Power Cable
1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead, 1.0mm Core) - no change
Processor Cooling
CORSAIR iCUE H100i ELITE CAPELLIX XT RGB High Performance CPU Cooler - good cooler for a bit more cooling headroom, RGB bling
Thermal Paste
STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING - no need for this as the AIO above has pre-applied paste that would have to be cleaned off to fit more that isn't any better
Extra Case Fans
4 x Corsair AF120 RGB ELITE PWM Fan + Controller Kit - not sure where the 6 original ones were going to fit, but this will fill the 3 x side and 1 x rear slots
Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD) - no change
Network Card
ONBOARD 2.5Gbe LAN PORT - no change
USB/Thunderbolt Options
MIN. 2 x USB 3.0 & 2 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL + MIN. 2 FRONT PORTS - no change
Operating System

Can anyone tell me if I need to select a bracket for this graphics card? Not sure if the included one only starts at Ti level?

Graphics Card
12GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4070 SUPER - HDMI, DP, LHR - much better matched to the 1440p display you've chosen below (c.30-50% more FPS than the 4060Ti at 1440p, depending on the game, and much more oomph for VR), and for the 60hz mode on the 4K TV

For your GPU, if you want one you have to select/pay for it (£8 for the basic, £13 for the RGB version).

Regarding graphic cards, it looks like, for example, that Nivada supply a lot of other brands with their chips. How much of a difference is it between these brands with the same number such as 4070. Is it important to stick with Nivada only cards?

Correct, the GPU chip is the same on all the cards, and it’s up to the board partner to decide how much extra they put onto the circuit board to make it a ‘premium’ offering. Margins are tight, so they try to spend as little as possible, and charge as much as possible.

PCS don’t offer Nvidia branded cards. The UK supplier of those - known as ‘FE’ or ‘Founder’s Edition’ - is Scan.co.uk.

PCS will fit a card from one of the board partners…Palit, Zotac, Sapphire, Gigabyte, etc. They all offer the same performance, but some offer slightly better cooling, or RGB, or chrome backplates, etc. Even the OC (overclocked) versions offer very little for their premium pricing.

If you want an Asus-branded model, then you have to choose it from the list (in its own section) and pay more for it.

You are of course also free to source an Nvidia FE model (or any other brand) from Scan and fit it yourself. But be aware if Scan that the FE cards are in limited supply, and aren’t always available.
