Linux Laptop Compatibility

Hi everyone,

I can see that this post has not been used for 4 years now... not sure if I'll get any answer.

It's time for me to buy a new laptop and I'm looking at 14" Lafité AI AMD.
This is the exact configuration I'm looking at.

I would expect no problem honestly, but did someone try to use linux on a similar laptop?

Linux has come along way, it's not like it used to be, depending on what distro you're using and you know how to manage linux, there's almost no components you can't configure drivers for these days.

Any experience with the 16" Lafite AI AMD (Clevo V560EU so far as I can tell)? Other linux laptop places are selling
the V560 with linux installed, so I expect it to be straightforward. I have specified the Ryzen 9 HX370 which is a pretty
recent chip, but amd seem to be pretty good in feeding into the kernel these days. But it would be interesting to know how people have found the LaFife with Ryzen.

@mieh has just installed Fedora on one and posted the workarounds he needed to do, I know it’s a different chassis, but hopefully the workarounds may be similar

Thanks. Yes I had seen that but as it wasn't a Clevo I wasn't sure how relevant it was. Audio is one area which
can be problematic. I think that I am going to order and will report back, time permitting.

My 10 year old PCS UltraNote (Clevo W550SU) has developed a crack in the case around one of the hinges
and sometimes has a presumably related problem with booting and a flashing screen. So far I have managed to keep it working, but I need another reliable laptop working before I fully dismantle the W550 and see whether I can fix the case.
Just to confuse things, the CR2032 BIOS battery failed at almost the same time. I was disappointed to find the the CR2032 was not in a holder but was welded to a lead. The only spares on line had CR2032's welded to a cable compatible in every way except that the polarity was reversed. So I bought some PCB CR2032 holders and attached one to the old cable and installed that instead. Cost about 30p for the holder and 30p for a CR2032: working fine and easy to change the battery when needed. Otherwise the W550 has been wonderful! And perhaps will be so again after the repair.
Of course, always under linux.
